Hot Space A3/B5

This very early pressing plays with Mint audio from start to end, it has sound of an immaculate standard.  The cover and lyric inner are in pristine condition also.

Along with 'The Game' it is difficult to determine what is a 'Hot Space' first pressing.  This is definitely one of the earliest as the stampers so often are numbered 7 or higher.  I have certainly never seen a 1,1 or 2,2 for example.  So I am confident in saying this 3,5 is one of the earliest.

Visual grading

This is a visually stunning looking and at first glance looks 'as new'.  It is remarkably clean and has been only played once or twice I would say with only spindle line on S1, nothing at all on S2.  There are only a couple of visible hairlines on each side with one that is slightly more obvious on S1 (on track one) but it has no affect on the Mint quality audio whatsoever.  A beautiful vinyl that has been superbly looked after.

Play grading  

'Staying Power' plays with a clarity and precision that can only be described as Mint it is that good.  No clicks, pops, static or crackle this is audio of a sublime standard.  Every track on S1 is equal to this and I can't rate it highly enough, the audio is 100% stunning and is 'as new'.  Every intro and fade out is perfect and the music in between could not be any better.  Wow!  'Action This Day' plays very clearly and with very little of the distortion that so often affects this end track.  There is no static or crackle and no clicks or pops on this side at all.  This is audio of the highest standard, stunning.

Again there is need to individually grade each track as they all perform with the immaculate quality.  'Put Out The Fire' plays powerfully, loud and true with no 'background' or distortion.  Even the quieter tracks such as 'Life Is Real' play with astounding precision and the quiet intro on 'Las Palabras De Amor' is quite simply perfect.  'Cool Cat' is Mint from start to finish and the classic 'Under Pressure' ends the album with quite possibly the best version I have heard on such an early pressing.  So often it is beset with distortion but there is barely any here and it provides a stunning end to this underrated album.

In summary this is without doubt a final upgrade archive copy for certain.  Probably the 'cleanest' I have heard the precision and clarity throughout is incredibly good.  An absolute stunner with a beautiful cover and inner to match.

Cover

The glossy cover is stunning.  The edges and spine are so clean, just one tiny rub on the top edge.  The corners have next to no wear - the two right hand ones have just one mega small crease each which are barely visible.  The opening edge has no handling wear at all.  Both the front and back covers are immaculate with no marking, a price sticker can be seen on the latter.  Overall a near perfect example of this cover and is one of the 'cleanest' you will find.

Lyric inner  

I have never seen a better one.  This thick card inner with rounded corners is in perfect condition with no splits or marking and is as new.  Absolutely stunning!

The labels

Again these are like new with only one spindle line on S1.  No marking or writing anywhere.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers

This record has been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
