Jazz 1U/1U (first pressing with poster attached - stunning quality)

This 1U/1U first pressing of Jazz is one of the best I have ever heard and plays with perfect audio, a bold statement to make.  I cannot stress just how good this vinyl sounds!  I am reliably informed that the vinyl has been permanently housed in a polylined inner hence the 'new' quality of the audio.

What makes it even more of a rarity is that the infamous poster is still 90% attached to the cover.  The gatefold, I hasten to add, is also in superlative condition, I have never seen better.

Visual grading

Visually the vinyl is in pristine condition.  It has a fantastic glossy sheen even after all these years and under a strong bright light I could not detect any hairlines and there is no spindle wear at all.  This vinyl may never have been played prior to my play testing such is its quality.  A true genuine rarity.

Play grading  

You know you're onto a winner when the first track plays with no lead in static.  The intro to 'Mustapha' is breathtaking and the track has no interference throughout.  Mint standard.  With complete silence between tracks this is a first press of immense quality and has obviously been hardly played, if at all.  In fact I am astounded at the sheer depth of sound on every track.  I am confident in grading this side as Mint- and the minus is only there as the LP isn't sealed.  This side practically plays as new such is the quality.  'Let Me Entertain You' does play with slight distortion but this always occurs with this track being the last on the side where the grooves are pressed closer together.  Don't let it detract you though, because this is audio of the highest calibre, and is extremely rare on a 1U/1U first pressing.  There is the odd very faint 'dust tick' but you find this with new vinyl let alone one that is nearly 40 years old!

Unsurprisingly 'Dead On Time' begins in the same fashion with no lead in static.  The audio again is so strong and plays with such clarity it belies it age.  I heard just one faint click but other than that it was pure listening pleasure!  The sign of a quality vinyl is how good the quiet tracks play and 'In Only Seven Days' is a stunning example of this and once again has no interference and again there is complete silence between tracks.  The clarity and richness of the sound continues throughout this side and the remaining tracks play with equal quality .  I listened to every second and there is just no background noise, unless where stated, the audio is absolutely stunning.

In summary this is a genuine final upgrade copy.  For a first pressing that is nearing 40 years of age it is just so rare to find audio quality as good as this.  Any dust ticks you hear (only a handful) are so much in the background as to be totally negligible.  I sold a comparable first press of Jazz a few weeks ago and that one didn't even have the poster attached!  This is a mega rarity and any avid Queen collector would love to have this 1U/1U pressing in their collection. 

Gatefold cover

The G & L gatefold is in truly spectacular condition and looks almost new except for a couple of minor flaws, and I do mean minor!  It is so clean it really is in pristine condition, all the more remarkable for its age.  There is a little rubbing on the top edges and on the bottom edge but is very minimal as the photos prove.  The wide spine remains in superb shape and the opening edge looks barely handled.  There is also a very fine scratch type line just above the Jazz logo.  So often the reverse side is stained due to its 'whiteness' but this one is quite simply as new and the inside of the gatefold is in immaculate condition.  As per all the first/early pressings the cover has the embossed 'Jazz' logo on both sides.

This is probably the best gatefold I have ever seen for 'Jazz' and all the more incredible in that the poster is still attached!  This first pressing is a genuine rarity and a true gem.
