Queen : Jazz 1U/1U 1st Press with Attached Poster

This first pressing plays with stunning audio and it would be difficult to find better.  The clarity and sonic quality on both sides is so impressive and there is barely any interference.  It is superb!  There is no static, only a couple of seconds of crackle and just two very faint clicks.  It plays with near perfect precision!

The gatefold is absolutely stunning and is without doubt one of the most impressive I have ever seen.  It is so clean and has no marking at all.  Not only that but the infamous poster is still 100% attached!  The picture inner is also 'as new'.  A time warp classic up for auction!

The vinyl has a very healthy glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  S1 in particular is stunning with only a couple of faint hairlines and whilst S2 has a few more hairlines they do not affect the superb audio in any way.  There is not too much spindle wear and the run out grooves and labels are super clean.

Play grading

'Mustapha' plays with stunning precision on the intro and continues to play to the same standard to the very end.  It plays with great power and depth and there is no 'background' at all.  This is an immaculate version that grades as Mint it could not play any better!  No need for a minus here!

'Fat Bottomed Girls' also has a perfect intro with not even a dust tick.  From then the audio cannot be faulted and there are no clicks or pops, no intrusion at all.  This is clarity of the highest standard and this is clearly a vinyl that has been well looked after.  Mint again.

'Jealousy' is perfect from start to finish with only a small number of insignificant mega light dust ticks.  With no interference this easily grades as Mint the clarity is superb.  So far this is one impressive first pressing!

'Bicycle Race' is, you won't be surprised to hear, of the same 'high end' standard.  With stunning definition the only 'background' is a couple of barely audible static ticks just prior to the 'bell ringing' section.  In essence there is no interference and Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.

'If You Can't Beat Them' has no distortion which is a rarity and again provides another example of a vinyl only lightly played.  It plays incredibly well with no interference of any kind and easily deserves a Mint grade.  A stunning version.

'Let Me Entertain You' has only a couple of very minor ticks on the intro and then plays loud and true with hardly any inner groove distortion - this is very rare!  The 'spoken' outro just has a couple of very light static ticks right at the end.  Overall this is a very strong Near Mint version.

The intro on 'Dead On Time' plays with perfect precision and as Freddie's vocal comes in there is no decrease in quality.  The only downside is a couple of light clicks in the middle section but aside from that this powerful track plays perfectly.  Despite that I still believe a Near Mint- grade is suitable as the remainder is just so damn good!

'In Only Seven Days' is just Mint in every way.  For this relatively quiet number to play as beautifully as this is a rarity indeed.  It is no exaggeration to say it plays as well as it first did back in '78.  Wow what clarity!

'Dreamers Ball' is almost as good with only a couple of dust ticks and one very light static tick on the intro.  The clarity is so impressive and the rest of the track has no 'background' of any kind.  A superb Mint- version.

'Fun It' has deep strong audio from the very start and the intro has only two light ticks, not clicks!  From then it plays faultlessly - you would think you were listening to a record pressed only yesterday.  Near Mint+ I would say.  

The acoustic intro on 'Leaving Home Ain't Easy' has no 'background' and you just cannot believe the immaculate clarity on offer here.  It plays with perfect precision until literally the final note where there are a couple of crackle sounds.  In spite of that I am confident in grading this as Near Mint+ and many would grade higher...if they listened to it....:-)

'Don't Stop Me Now' is stunning from the first groove to the last.  Rarely have I heard this classic play so well and there is no interference to be heard.  The end section also plays with great clarity and only a couple of faint ticks.  Mint- 

'More Of That Jazz' ends the album with 'high end' audio and no interference.  There is no inner groove distortion and basically it could not play better, I can't be any more honest than that!  Mint- for sure.   

In summary this first pressing plays to a fantastic standard with barely any interference and there are certainly no loud clicks or pops.  Yes there are a couple of faint clicks on S2 but overall the clarity and definition for a 42 year old record is stunning and rarely have I heard this album play so well.  The cover is also in near pristine condition with none of the wear so often associated with it.  It is so clean and as stated still has the poster 100% attached!  A brilliantly preserved copy.

The Gatefold

This is such an impressive example of this G&L embossed cover and is easily one of the finest I have seen in a long time.  The edges have no rubbing or marking and the wide spine is so close to being perfect with only three minor crease lines.  All of the corners are in great shape with barely any wear and the opening edge also looks untouched.  The front cover is stunning with none of the fading/spotting that you so often see and it has no marking apart from the small creases next to the spine.  The back cover is even better!  This is so rare as it is often this side that is affected by wear etc because it is predominantly 'white' of course.  There is no marking and it looks 'shop fresh'!  The inside is immaculate with no marking and the poster is still firmly attached to the right hand side.  A superb cover and it is one of the 'cleanest' examples you will find.  Wow!

The glossy picture inner is also in great condition with no side splits or marks and for once there are no creases around the edges.

The poster is in perfect Mint condition with no marking or splits of any kind.

The Labels

They are beautifully clean with no marking or writing, just some spindle wear as stated.
