QUEEN - KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE / SONS AND DAUGHTERS

This is perhaps the rarest Queen record there is. An unreleased copy of their first single with the wrong mix on it. It is a DJ copy with a large A and DEMO COPY printed on the inner part of the label.

The mix is not that different from the released version. This was from the days before computers and every mix was a human effort and unique. The band or the producers decided that this wasn't the best they could do and went back into the studio to mix the version we all know.

Provenance: I worked at EMI in 1973/74 in the Press Office. We received a box to give out to the press then a few days later received a message that the single was being pulled for having the wrong mix. We had to try and get back any copies we had given out and then return everything. I grabbed a few copies and carefully stored them with my other rare records.

This is 1 of 2 copies that I am selling.

This record is MINT. It has never been played. It has never even been removed from the sleeve.

I have posted a photo of the official release label as well as this version so you can see all the differences:

There is a release date printed on the label, which is earlier than the actual release.
The (p)1973 information is in a different location.
The producer credits are different.
The copy under the Trident logo is different.
There is a publisher credit above the Queen logo that isn't on the released label.

The record is in MINT condition. It has never been taken out of the sleeve.

The EMI Records sleeve is in MINT condition. There are no bends, marks or tears.
