Description
The Miracle is the thirteenth studio album by British rock band Queen, released on May 22, 1989 by Capitol in the United States, and Parlophone in the United Kingdom, being the first released by the band on this label. The album's themes are recurring, being inspired by Brian May's marital problems, and Freddie Mercury's positive AIDS diagnosis in 1987 (which was a fact known among the band members but not to the general public). It was recorded throughout the year of 1988. It was the band's last album for the '80s and the last with a picture of the band on the album cover. The album peaked at number 1 on the UK, Austrian, Netherlands, West German and Swiss charts, and number 24 on the US Billboard 200, and sold an estimated 5 million copies worldwide, despite that a promotional tour was not carried out due to the increasingly notorious health problems of Freddie Mercury. Allmusic considers it Queen's best album of the 1980s, along with The Game (1980). Several singles were also released: I Want It All (the most successful song on the album), Breakthru, The Invisible Man, Scandal and The Miracle, with their respective videos. A deluxe edition of this album was issued in 2023 featuring a 180 Gram Vinyl and a unique Booklet with a fantastic photos and containing the history behind the album (booklet is in Spanish).
