Description
This is a very good copy from an early (1968) U.S. repressing of the debut LP by Bay Area stalwarts Quicksilver Messenger Service, originally released earlier that same year. Like the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver's reputation stemmed from their live performances. They had been performing regularly for a couple of years by the time they debuted on vinyl, and appropriately enough, their second LP was a live recording. Their debut is arguably their best studio effort, featuring the moody, apocalyptic "Pride of Man," the bouncy, upbeat "Dino's Song," and two long (predominantly) instrumental workouts, "Gold and Silver" and "The Fool." The foil front cover slick has some ring wear and scuffing, but the jacket is otherwise close to M- with light corner, spine, and seam wear (the back cover is M-) -- overall EX-. The disc has a few dings and some hairline scraping and scuffing, and plays with mostly light surface noise and a stray light pop (VG+). The disc labels have “a subsidiary of Capitol Industries, Inc.” in the rim text, which distinguishes the record from a first pressing copy.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
