DELIVERING INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE SOUND WITH A CRYSTAL CLEAR, BRIGHT AND LOUD *MONO* CUT
Quincy Jones has had such strong success in pop music since the mid-1960s that it is easy to forget just how inventive and distinctive a jazz arranger he was during his prime years.
This LP features the Quincy Jones Big Band shortly before they sailed to Europe as part of a Harold Arlen show.
Surprisingly, none of the selections are Jones originals - but dispute his musical absence (he did conduct the group), the music sounds very much like his work.
With such fine soloists as altoist Phil Woods, tenorman Budd Johnson, Les Spann on guitar and flute, Julius Watkins on French horn (on "Everybody's Blues"), trumpeter Art Farmer and two guest spots for trumpeter Lee Morgan, the music (highlighted by "Lester Leaps In," "Cherokee" and "Air Mail Special") featured a top-notch bop-oriented big band

Clean, unmarked, factory-fresh labels with just one light spindle trace per side
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces shine like new and are practically unmarked - light brush marks only which have no audio consequence
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
In keeping with its once played status my play-check at loud volume revealed no major audio issues of note - no scratches and no groove-wear or distortion, and apart from a touch of light background between some (not all) of the tracks and one or two soft 'ticks' (nothing continuous or intrusive) it plays beautifully
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT
The original front laminated flipback sleeve has a nice glossy sheen to the front with just a little rubbing and the white back is remarkably clean.
The edges and spine - where all spine text is clear and bold - have little wear to speak of (just a tiny amount of corner 'bumping').
The flip backs are undamaged with just a little laminate lift on the spine corner.
Overall, a very fine example

The original inner is clean and fresh with no seam splits - hardly seen the light of day
