Description

QUINTESSENCE - "SONOMA RAG" Private Press Jazz Funk LP recorded in Cotati, CA in a chicken coop converted into a recording studio.  This record is SEALED - UNOPENED!!  This is *the* album to have from the NorthBay area.  Contains the ILL track "Cotati Funk", which was comped on the Luv n' Haight Bay Area funk comp.  The drums on "Cotati Funk" are 7 minutes of non-stop niceness worth the price of admission alone!!  Quintessence was a band made up of several music professors who taught at schools in and around Sonoma County.  Billy Browning was a professor at Sonoma State, who played in several other groups around the area.  Three of the five members of the band are now deceased, and the album has dropped into obscurity only to be revitalized by bay area record collectors.  I found this album in a Salvation Army in SOCO and stands as one of my best thrift store finds ever!!  Makes up for the 10,000 Herb Alpert Whip Cream Delight albums I had to wade through at Salvation Army before getting there!!  This album is a KILLER.  You won't see this come around again anytime soon!   Shipping is $6 US, $12 Overseas.  Thanks for bidding and check out the many one of a kind records I currently have up in the Doo Wop, Soul, Funk, Psych, KBD Punk, and Disco genres.

I am a college student at the University of Michigan trying to put myself through engineering school by digging for records in Detroit on the weekend.  So, know that your bids are going to a good cause!!  For fun, I am going to keep tabs on how close I am getting to paying for my years tuition in each listing.  I will update the number with each new grouping I put up! : )  My start date is 9/04.  As you can see, I have a LONG way to go!  : )  - Scott Harlow

Money Made/Years Tuition:  as of 9/14/04 ---- $0/$26,000
