Condition
Record: Near VG FACTORY SAMPLE Not for Sale - clearly proper original sticker ie NOT a dodgy repro that has just been stuck on else would put on a better condition record (which I do not do anyhow!!) discogs variant 5, 3U/2U and 1G 1G so as early as it gets. Record has some scuffs (and one weird surface marks that luckily has little to no effect), some ticks/clicks but very few spindle marks. There is some surface noise but the sound itself is bright and clear, near VG and better than G+. Have to also note that side 1 label is a little off centre but vinyl is pressed absolutely correctly.
Sleeve: VG as seen
This was a ground breaking album and still has a fair amount of prog feel to it in case you were wondering on my listing categories. Proudly states "...and nobody played synthesizer." how times would change for them sooner than they expected.
I use record collector grading but also add a + and - where necessary since their grading standard can be too simplistic.
Mint (M): The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.; Please note I normally use Near Mint since unless sealed there will always be a minor imperfection!
Excellent (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
Fair (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
Bad (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
