Queen
Jazz (1978 French Picture Disc)
This is the genuine original French pressed picture and not one of the many fakes that get flogged off.
This was the first ever Queen picture disc and is extremely rare. Not only that but it is an amazing piece of visual art with an awesome band photo !
It is the full length Jazz (1978) album pressed in France and intended for sale in the US market (contract press). This was also to coincide with Queen's 1978 US/Canadian tour.
Picture discs were still a specialty in the 1970's. Hence it was decided to contract out this special run to the EMI-France. The Jazz picture disc was cut from original US mother stampers which were sent ot France - hence it bears the US catalogue numbers in the run out grooves ( aka matrix / matrices) of: 6E-166 + RTB (Roy Thomas Baker) + "sterling" ( sterling sound in New York which was the famous (and brilliant) mastering facility used by the large record companies).
This is a very rare official release and sought after.
It comes with its original die cut sleeve
How to tell the original from the fakes:
1. The word "Jazz" on the front should always be a soft pink and never dark pink or red
2. The blue rim on the sleeve cut out will not form a circle on the left side (straight line)
3. The sleeve will be printed on thick high quality board hence has a solid creamy white finish and not a rough grayish cardboard finish.
4. It will of course carry the US matrices
5. You can google and find some brilliant Queen fan websites to tell you more.
Condition (visual grade):
DISC: VG+ (light scuffs from sleeve withdrawal)
SLEEVE: VG- (split at top of the sleeve and general wear)
**** I use the UK Record Collector based grading system - see table at the end.
Postage:
1. Australia
EMS:AU $27 for the 1st LP + AU$5 for additional LP's. This is a tracked courier service and takes approx. 5-10 working days (estimate not a guaranteed time frame).
2. UK/ EU/USA/Canada/Japan
EMS: AU $39 for the 1st LP + AU$5 for additional LP's. This is a tracked courier service and takes approx. 5-10 working days (estimate not a guaranteed time frame).
I can’t offer airmail as an option as there is no tracking number provided. eBay will always side with the buyer if there is a claim for non-receipt of an item (refunded via PayPal) unless the seller can provide a tracking number or proof of delivery. There is no protection for a seller from rogue or dishonest buyers claiming non-receipt or loss of the parcel.
If you need to discuss further then please feel free to contact me. In the past I have almost always used 1st class airmail with almost no issues – only those arising from dishonest buyers claiming non-receipt.
