Peter Frampton
Born in Beckenham, England, in 1950, Peter Frampton is a highly gifted guitarist, singer, and songwriter who first tasted rock-and-roll fame as a teenager fronting the pop-rock group The Herd and co-founding the hard-driving blues-rock band Humble Pie with Steve Marriott in 1969. After leaving Humble Pie to forge a solo path, he toured relentlessly throughout the early 1970s, steadily refining an infectious blend of melodic rock and soul infused with his trademark "talk box" guitar effects device. His dedication paid off in staggering fashion with the 1976 release of Frampton Comes Alive!, a monumental double-live album that dominated the Billboard charts for ten weeks and spawned ubiquitous classic-rock radio staples like "Show Me the Way" and "Baby, I Love Your Way." Experiencing both immense chart success and subsequent professional shifts through the decades, Frampton's career was later revitalized through major tours alongside lifelong friend David Bowie. Decades later, his unassailable legacy as an elite live performer and a signature sound architect of 1970s arena rock remains firmly intact.
Farm Aid 5
Staged on March 14, 1992, at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas, Farm Aid 5 (officially stylized as Farm Aid V) marked a major milestone for America's longest-running benefit concert series. Held at the formal invitation of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the massive single-day festival drew a roaring crowd of nearly 40,000 spectators to support and fundraise for the country's struggling independent family farmers. The staggering lineup featured more than 50 acts cross-pollinating the worlds of rock, folk, and country music, naturally anchored by the festival's founding board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young. Notable highlights included an array of performances from stars like Paul Simon, Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, alongside a historic appearance by the country supergroup The Highwaymen. Transmitted to millions of viewers via the MTV network and syndicated highlight broadcasts, the event successfully channeled the collective power of rock and country to spotlight the ongoing challenges of industrial agriculture in America.
This three-hour concert set contains one and a half segments from both events equaling three LPs.
