Description
Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool (XL Recordings XLLP790, released May 8, 2016) is a 2×LP on 180g black vinyl housed in a gatefold jacket with printed paper inner sleeves. This copy is in EX condition vinyl (plays pristine) in an EX jacket (minor wear but fully intact) bottom left corner is dinged and there is a scratch on the back cover. Runouts etched “A - Bazza Alchemy,” “B - Sanitized,” “C - Sterilized,” and “D - neutralized” confirm it’s the Optimal Media (France) pressing. Cover sleeve inside print: Interior that is normally blank cardboard is entirely designed and printed with artwork.
This Optimal Media pressing is called “optimal” by vinyl collectors because it outperforms the Rainbo (USA) version, which suffered complaints of surface noise, warps, and off-center holes in 2016 releases. Optimal’s runouts (like “Bazza Alchemy” from mastering engineer Barry Grint) signal tighter quality control, quieter grooves, and better centering for faithful playback of the album’s delicate strings and dynamics. Optimal is the preferred UK/EU variant for audiophiles.
