This genuine first pressing plays with STUNNING quality across all four sides and I have never heard anything like it! This is an album that has been so well preserved and based on the audio and the minimal spindle wear has only been very lightly played. Having done a little research I know the first press is very highly regarded but I did not think it would play this well! The clarity, depth and resonance of the audio is out of this world and it is a FINAL UPGRADE album for sure. In essence it could not play any better and the sonic quality throughout is exceptional.
Not surprisingly the vinyls are visually stunning with only some light hairlines and the cover has also been very well looked after with only the bare minimum of wear. The inner sleeves are in perfect condition. A STUNNING album in every way.

Visual description
The vinyls are in lovely condition and still have an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a strong light I can only detect a few of the usual faint sleeve removal hairlines which obviously have no impact on the audio. The labels are super clean with only very minimal spindle wear.
Play grading
This classic album begins with a sensational version of 'Airbag' which plays 'as new' with a clarity and definition that is comparable to a vinyl pressed only yesterday not a quarter of a century ago! Each note is so sharp and precise and from start to finish there is literally no 'background'. I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint it could not play any better. What a start!'Paranoid Android' then plays to the same 'high end' standard with no intrusion again. I cannot emphasise enough just how immaculate the audio is! The playback is crystal clear with not so much as a single dust tick for company. It is obvious already that this first pressing has hardly been played such is the sonic quality on offer here. This classic plays with sublime clarity, depth and warmth from the first note to the last and even the quieter 'rain down' vocal section has no 'background' and the powerful end guitar sequence is equally as good. Another perfect Mint track no need for a minus even.
'Subterranean Homesick Alien' has a couple of barely audible static ticks on the intro and Yorke's opening vocal is 'as new' with no intrusion. It continues in the same precise way with a clarity of sound that is absolutely STUNNING and the depth of the audio cannot be underestimated. A fine example of the clarity is on the one note fade out which has no 'background' of any kind. Once again Mint is the only grade I can give - an unbelievable side of music!

You would perhaps expect some interference during 'Exit Music (For A Film)' because it is so quiet and yet the clarity of sound is breathtaking! All I detected on the opening acoustic intro/vocal were a small number of very quiet dust ticks that obviously are not intrusive. There is no background static and I cannot overstate just how beautifully it plays. As the volume 'increases' this sublime quality is more than kept up and from then on plays like it has never been played before! The audio is so deep and strong and especially on the final section just after the percussion kicks in. The final vocal section is just incredible, 'as new' again. I will grade as Mint- but really I am not sure the minus is required.
'Let Down' more than keeps up this fine standard and is Mint from start to finish with no interference. And when I say Mint I mean Mint it could not play with any greater precision.
The intro on the classic 'Karma Police' is faultless - not one dust tick - and the opening vocal is just as clear. It proceeds to play with a clarity and resonance that is second to none. Every section plays with unrivalled quality and the emotive end vocal is particularly impressive. As you can imagine I am running out of superlatives in which to describe this album! Needless to say this is Mint from start to finish.

'Fitter Happier' on S3 again demonstrates how well this double album has been preserved and 'plays' with imperious quality throughout with no 'background'. 100% Mint
'Electioneering' has one very light static tick on the intro and then plays without fault for the remainder. No ticks, clicks, pops or static just pure unadulterated Mint audio. The power of the audio is stunning and there is no distortion on the top end.
The intro on 'Climbing Up The Walls' has no 'background' and this clarity remains the more you get into the track. There is no need to elaborate this is Mint including the quieter end section.
'No Surprises' ends the side as you would expect...with unbelievable sonic quality. Once more you are shaking your head in disbelief at the clarity on offer here - the classic intro is 'as new' and Yorke's opening vocal is equally as 'fresh'. It continues to play like it has never seen a turntable before with no intrusion whatsoever. In essence this plays as good as you would want it to and Mint is richly deserved.

The quiet build up on 'Lucky' plays beautifully with only a couple of barely audible dust ticks. The opening vocal has no 'background' and again I cannot believe what I am listening to! The first chorus can only be described 'as new' and it continues to play with a sonic quality that is lifted straight from 1997! There is one light tick during the instrumental section towards the end but it is not intrusive in any way and it seems a little harsh to downgrade it because of that. I will grade as Mint- I believe that is an honest assessment of the audio.
'The Tourist' ends this iconic album plays with STUNNING quality. There are no negatives and the clarity and warmth of the audio is equal to that of an unplayed vinyl. The high octane section near the end is a case in point - the power and clarity is incredible - no distortion whatsoever and the quiet finale is perfect. Another classic track and a sublime Mint version to end proceedings.
In summary this genuine first press plays to the highest standard possible with no interference. Ok one light tick on S4 but that hardly qualifies as interference! As stated this album has hardly been played and that is reflected in the sonic quality. It may be well be the most stunning vinyl from the 90s that I have ever listened and is a FINAL UPGRADE album of that I have no doubt i.e. no need to purchase another as you could not find better audio than this! This has a clarity of sound that is outstanding in every regard and the audio definition and resonance is 'high end' to say the least. A STUNNING find and I am positive any Radiohead collector would be hugely impressed also.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves
The cover is in excellent condition with only very minimal shelf wear and has retained its original shape and structure incredibly well. The top edge of the back cover has a couple of minor indents and the top edge of the front cover just has a small number of faint spots in one area. The bottom edges are super clean with no wear and the wide spine is 'as new' with no wear either. All corners are in fantastic condition with barely any wear and the opening edges are as close to perfect as is possible. The edge of the back cover just has a couple of minor 'ripples'. The front cover is in beautifully clean with no marking and has just one small indent next to the top edge. The back cover is just as clean also and the inside of the gatefold is pristine. A superb example overall.
The two original inners are in perfect condition with no sign of any wear.
