LP : Raffaela Renzulli Ensemble - Children of the Light

Original German pressing from 1987 on ELSA GmbH, Aachen. Contains the Original Inner Sleeve with complete lyrics, photos, infos etc. Extremely rare LP, released as a private press in a low quantity of ca. 1500 records by the company ELSA Gesellschaft für Elektronische Systeme GmbH.
Italian born singer R.Renzulli, daughter of renowned cello-virtuoso Fulvio Renzulli, moved to Germany at the age of 11. She began singing professionally in 1979. On this record she performs some amazing Funky- & Latin-Fusion, featuring some club-tunes with dope Scat Vocals. One of the few records with a somehow unique and tasty 80ies eurojazz style and sound, all musicians beeing in top form providing awesome solos, especially the bass-player has some real cool moments, but also the soprano-sax player and the other guys. You might know the drummer Gerd Breuer from LPs like “Mr.Circle – Thi Nam”, “Monika Linges – Floating” or from several John Thomas recordings. He is also featured on 2 LPs of my current auctions: “Monika Linges – Songing” and “Mikesch van Grümmer – Barlach Zyklus”.
If you are into stuff like Kitty Winter, Sylvia Droste, Namaz a.o. you will love this LP. Unfortunately you can listen only to “Brasilia” on the youtube channel, but you can find some more audio-clips because the record has recently been re-released on CD. Outstanding, rare and highly recommended !

Condition: in bright light the record shows a slightly matt surface, I have seen 2 more copies of this LP, both looking the same, moreover 2 eBay sellers mentioned this in their descriptions in the past. But no need to worry, this does not effect the playback at all !

The record looks mint-- to ex++ in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks ex to ex- under a very strong halogen lamp due to a few (sleeve ) lines. It plays in mint- all of the time.
The cover shows just a hint of slightest shelfwear, all seams/spine are intact, there are 2 tiny overlapping blue stickers on the back, overall mint-. The OIS is in mint-.

Zustand: in sehr hellem Licht betrachtet hat die LP hat eine leicht matte Oberfläche, ich habe 2 weitere Exemplare in der Hand gehabt die genauso aussahen, darüberhinaus wurde dies auch in 2 früheren Auktionen von eBay Verkäufern so beschrieben. Aber kein Grund zur Panik, dies hat keinerlei negativen Einfluss auf den Klang !

Die LP sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe mint-- bis ex++ aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie auf Grund einiger weniger sleeve-hairlines ex bis ex- aus. Sie spielt durchgehend in mint- .
Das Cover ist top mit nur allerleichtesten Lagerspuren, alle Kanten sind intakt, auf der Rückseite sind 2 kleine, einander überlappende Aufkleber, insgesamt in mint-. Auch die originale Innenhülle ist in mint-. alle Platten habe ich professionell gereinigt und angehört (meist ganz, manchmal in Ausschnitten). Kommen mit neuer Außen- & Innenhülle !

Grading & Cleaning:

  • the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

  • after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

  • I also visually graded the record in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

  • only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

  • cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve
