Description

Rainbow Promise - "Rainbow Promise" (New Wine-Wine Press Records LP S 259-01), 1970.

Unbelievable christian psychedelic fuzz hard rock home-made rarity featured in Hans Pokora's Record Collector Dreams 3001, rated at 4 discs.  Songs range from West Coast trippy to serious hard rock guitar wailers with plenty of echo-laden guitars and heavy solos.  Great vocal harmonies, too.   OK, there are a couple of duds here, but this one is so cool and so hard to find that you forgive this album its few shortcomings.

This is the original version, same as the one later released as Rainbow Promise & Steve Powell.  Powell also released a couple fine xian stompers of his own.  This version has the red back cover with band photo and DOES include the inner line with song lyrics and band info. 

Band members are:  Steve Powell (electric rhythm guitar), Leonard Brannon (electric bass), Richard Slaton (acoustic rhythm guitar), Ric Bowers (electric lead guitar), Dennis Jones (drums), Brother Elijah Morse (coordinator and advisor). 

Songs titles are:  Get Ready, Someone You Need, Do You Hear, Romans 8:28, The Joy of the Lord, I've Got the Rebirth, Prophecy, Little Country Church, Please Don't Refuse Him.

Cover and record are strong VG+.  

I normally do not like to list records with reserve prices, but due to the incredible rarity of this one, I have set a reasonable reserve.   When is the last time you saw this up for grabs?   In June of 2004 on eBay, if you check the PopSike website.  I'm not going to say what that copy sold for, but . . . you can check for yourself, if you like.   When will you see one again?   Don't let this one get away.
