UK LP released on Sire Records in 1977. This version replaces 'Carbona Not Glue' with 'Babysitter' (not listed on cover).

This British version with "Babysitter" does not list the name of this song on the back cover and on the inner sleeve. It's just referred on the vinyl itself. Most collectors believe that the "Babysitter" version is rarer than the "Carbona" version.

The original release included "Carbona Not Glue" as the fifth track on the album. However, the song was deleted from the album to avoid a potential lawsuit, as Carbona was a corporate trademark. The album was re-released with the single B-side "Babysitter" in its place. 

When Sire Records suddenly switched distributors from ABC Records to Warner Bros. Records (who had bought the label), yet another version of the album was released, with "Babysitter" being replaced by "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker", then a non-LP single already planned to be on the next Ramones album in a different mix.

Always lumped in with the class of '77 in terms of punk's first wave, The Ramones first album had actually been unleashed very early in 1976. It took a good year for the band's reputation to spread beyond the environs of New York, so far ahead of their time were they. Thus, it was nearly a year later that their follow-up finally hit the shelves - the title referencing the fact that, following their UK tour, the band were now world-travellers. It contained another 14 tracks of three-minute-or-less, three-chord dumbness. Excellent stuff!

With most of the material written at the same time as their debut and having been performed live for over twelve months (how else would they have made up a full hour-long set list?), Leave Home is more of the same. But it's far from a carbon copy of its predecessor. For starters the studio budget had gone up allowing the band to get a smoother sound and a better producer.

Subject matter-wise it was business as usual, with songs about fairground freaks (Pinhead), right-wing militarism (Commando), mental illness (Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment) and misogyny (Glad To See You Go) all served with a good dose of humour.

But alongside the heady rush of the full-on approach was 'da brudders' love of 60s surf-pop and Phil Spector romanticism. Their cover of The Rivieras' California Sun makes perfect sense, and Joey's rendition of I Remember You is as sweet a love song as you could get.

Ultimately, Leave Home is a reconciliation and, along with the other three of their first four albums is basically as perfect and exhilarating as it could be within its own stripped-down, guitar, bass and drums universe. Gabba gabba hey, indeed!

We offer combined shipping on all LPs / 12" Vinyls: our shipping rates are listed above. HOWEVER shipping packages that weigh more than 2kg is VERY expensive. Therefore we can only offer combined shipping up to a maximum of SIX (6) LPs / 12" vinyls. Any extra purchases will be invoiced, packaged and shipped separately.

COMBINED POSTAGE FOR DIFFERENT FORMATS will be invoiced at my discretion:

While I am happy to combine (for example) one or two 7” singles into one package with 12” records, sometimes it simply isn’t practical (like if you want me to combine one 12” record with three or more 7” records). I simply do not think that these combinations can be packaged together safely and securely. Therefore these will be invoiced separately as two packages.

I am sorry to have to introduce these measures – I always try to be patient and allow buyers to bid on extra auctions and / or delay payment. Unfortunately some buyers have been stretching out transactions to unacceptable lengths so I feel I have no option but to limit ‘carried over’ transactions to two weeks.
