Description
Up for auction is this RAMONES - Road to Ruin LP. This was the 4th album by
"The Godfathers of Punk" & was originally releaased on September 21st, 1978. The
songs on this album were considered by both fans & critics as an attempt to get the
band more airplay. The album incorporated musical elements which were unheard
of in Punk Rock, such as guitar solos & ballads. The difference in style caused
mixed reviews by the critics, with many of them citing that the band was just
trying to simply sell more albums. Which was, kind of true. The band changed
it's musical style & infused into these songs guitar solos, acoustic rhythm guitars,
and ballads not because they "Sold Out" as some have claimed. It was merely
the band's attempt to gain some kind of mainstream acceptance. But it failed.
The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #103, which was 50 spots behind
their previous album from 1977, Rocket to Russia.
This copy you are bidding on is the 1st American Repress from 1994 & was
made as part of the "Super Saver Series". This vinyl album is in NEARMINT
condition as it has only been played ONE TIME!! Then I recorded it onto a high
quality cassette to play hundreds upon hundreds of times on my car stereo.
The inner plastic sleeve is lightly crinkled & the outer carboard sleeve
is in EXCELLENT condition or better. A SUPERB copy to bid on.
>>RAMONES TRIVIA<< - Joey Ramone died on April 15th, 2001. And at his
funeral countless numbers of fans, musicians, actors & actresses showed up
to pay their respects. Big mainstream musicians U2 were there & when Bono
was asked if he'd like to comment on the tragic loss of Joey Ramone, he went
to reply: "Joey Ramone taught me how to sing. I would never be where I am
today or have had the success I've gotten without Joey's mentoring. He
taught me how to vocalize." Wow!! Did Bono really credit his singing
skills to Joey Ramone?!? I don't know about you, but when I heard
him say that, it blew my mind!!
