Random Harvest – Self Titled Album

Random Harvest were a Scottish folk/rock band which certainly didn’t go for obvious material on this privately pressed album – alongside the expected ‘The Shearing’s Not For You’ and ‘Curragh Of Kildare’, we get covers of Curved Air’s ‘Back Street Luv’, Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Baker Street’, Sandy Denny’s ‘Rising For The Moon’, John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ and the Stones’ ‘Honky Tonk Women’. Whilst none of the versions here equals the original, this is a bold and creative album that often sounds similar to mid-seventies Fairport Convention (though all the guitars are acoustic).

Side Two: Mally Lee; Red Is The Rose; Rising For The Moon; Imagine; Honky Tonk Woman; Curragh Of Kildare; Fly Away Home.
The album is a Private Press, RH 501. Matrix side one: RH 501 A1 (written). Matrix side two: RH 501 B1 (written).
Released in 1982. UK pressing. Stereo.

Condition: (as Record Collector's grading system)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (has a few very light superficial marks that can only be seen under bright light that do not affect the audio in any way, also it has a very small pressing blister that causes three dull light clicks midway through the last track but certainly nothing that spoild your enjoyment of the music, that apart plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (has a few very light superficial marks that can only be seen under bright light that do not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Cover (glossy): excellent (a few small light edge creases, very light ring wear).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
