THIS IS LIKE ABOVE LP , SAME TRAILOFF..There is no drill hole in the cover or label OR ONE THAT SHOWS UP ON SCANNED BOOTLEG COPIES (CHECK ACID ARCHIVES). The cover is thick cardboard with gray tint. The front cover slick wraps around the back and the back cover slick is pasted over top of that. Vinyl trailoff = 6-137-1-D and 6-138-1-D...HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE...MY COPY HAS SOME MILD RW AND A STICKER MARK WHERE THE RED DOT HAS FALLEN OFF ( DENOTING CUT OUT STATUS)..THIS IN MY OPINION IS A BADGE OF HONOR INDICATING THIS IS A VINTAGE LP OF THE ERA AND WHO CAN SAY ORIGINAL SINCE THIS LP HAD NO OFFICIAL ISSUE...SO I ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION UNLIKE MY FRIEND WHO'S LINK I PROVIDED...THIS IS VG++ / EX+ TO NM- ON VISUALS AND PLAYBACK..HOBBITT HB / 5002 IN ALL ITS GLORY

Population II teams Holden with Kak’s (also see below) Chris Lockheed on an unparalleled study in guitar extremism, or the heaviest record you’ve never heard. Lockheed plays drums and keyboard (simultaneously!!) and Randy does the rest. Sixteen two-hundred watt Sunn amps and a 10-hour-per-day-every-day rehearsal schedule in an empty opera house- the only place big enough to handle the power- set the stage for one massive slab of Strat-fired mayhem (the Sunn getup didn’t do Randy’s Gibson justice, so he switched to Jimi’s axe of choice. Comparisons abound.) Holden takes up the story: “Chris first searched me out after Blue Cheer… So when he had a meeting with me, he said that he also played keyboards. And loving sensationalism as I do, I asked him, ‘Can you play both at once, drums and keyboards?’ He said, ‘Yeah.’ I thought okay, if this guy's got the confidence and the nerve to say that, he's gotta be able to do it. But it was really laborious for him... It was very numerical and mathematical and calculated. It was very difficult to do. And I realized that the job he faced sucked. To me, it would have been no fun at all. Because you're totally restricted. On one side you have to have this soft touch on keyboards, and the other side, you have to be slamming. So your personality divided right down the middle. It's amazing that he didn't overdose on schizophrenia.” Consequently, Population II has a slowed down feeling, certainly ponderous and, at times, almost leaden (and just about perfect for the emerging Quaalude generation.) And it’s unbelievably loud. Had it been given a proper release in 1970 instead of never (officially- although there have apparently been more than a few bootleg pressings over the years), this album might be mentioned in the same breath as Black Sabbath’s first or Paranoid, instead of Bloodrock’s second or Kingdom Come.

GRADING CVR/DISC
NEAR MINT- (NM-): A nearly perfect record. No obvious sign of wear. Looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. Faintest, tiniest wisp of a hint of a suggestion of whiff of a sleeve mark allowable.
EXCELLENT: (EX): A superior record with no more than a wisp of a hairline, faint shadowing, or a superficial needle drag. None of these defects are glaring, and certainly do not affect play.
VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+): Played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have light scuffs or very light scratches that might slightly affect, but do not overpower, one’s listening experience. Very slight warps that do not affect play are OK.
VERY GOOD (VG): Many of the defects found in a VG+ record are more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise is evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

I DID NOT TRY TO BE VAGUE IN THE DESCRIPTION, WHAT I AM TRYING TO CONVEY IS THAT THIS LP HAS ALL THE QUALIFICATIONS PLUS MORE THAT THE OTHER SELLER SAID MADE HIS AN ORIGINAL... (WHOS LINK I PROVIDED SOLD HIS AT $683)...THIS HAS GOT THE AGE FACTOR, SLIGHT AS IT IS TO SHOW THIS IS A VINTAGE COPY...IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE ONLY CRITERIA ACCEPTED FOR AN "ORIGINAL" IS A DRILL HOLE THROUGH THE LABEL...I GUESS I COULD HAVE DONE THAT BUT I CHOOSE TO TO BE HONEST AND CHALLENGE ANYONE TO SAY ABSOLUTELY THAT ALL FIRST PRESS'S LEFT THE PLANT WITH DRILL HOLES...BUT THE FACTORS OF AGE, STICKER MARKS, CONSISTANT CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS OF THAT ERA LEAN THIS ONE AS ONE OF THE ELITE
