ITEM: Rare, original 10" LP, 1954 USA pressing: " Meet Mr. Gordon ", by Bob Gordon. Original 1954 Pacific Jazz, Deep Groove label, catalog number PJ LP-12.
COMMENTS/CONDITION: This LP came from a private collection, it is not a worn-out ex-library item or a beat up record bought at a yard sale.
This record was visually graded and was Test Played.
Grading is done according to Goldmine standards. If you are not familiar with that system, please go to the Goldmine web site and read the grading criteria BEFORE YOU BID.
Vinyl Condition: Both sides retain a nice full gloss mirror-like luster. There are no warps, cracks, deep scratches, chips, or groove wear. A close visual inspection under a bright light source reveals a few minor scuffs and light scratch marks. On my older system, all tracks played nicely, with no skips, groove lock, irritating surface noise, or loud pops.
Side 1 is a strong VG to VG+. There is one short "feel-able" scratch mark that produces soft tics at the very end of track 3, and during the quieter passages of track 4.
Side 2 is also a strong VG to VG+. A few soft tics can be heard at the very beginning of track 1.
Please Note: These comments are made for reference only, and are not meant as a statement as to the results you may experience with your equipment.
Label Condition: Both Deep Groove labels are in very good, clean condition. There are no peeling edges, rips, writing, or tape. The center hole is perfectly round and shows no signs of abusive playing.
Cover is in very good condition with no "cut-out" holes, saw cut marks, or clipped corners. Photos and lettering are crisp and sharp, even after 58 years! Edges have noticeable shelf wear and chipping, and the bottom seam has 2 short splits at each end. Light age tanning and rub wear/soiling from handling are present. The top left corner of the back cover has a price written in pencil.
Other than gently wiping the vinyl with a dampened cotton cloth before playing, I did not attempt to clean the vinyl or cover. Most serious collectors have their own cleaning methods they prefer to use.
