"Stereo For The Joy Of It" "Classical Music Of Today in the Sound Of Tomorrow" RCA Victor RED SEAL(Shaded Dog) LSC-9300 10 LP set STEREO 1959. RARE and hard to find. 10 separate LPs housed in colorful heavy construction inner sleeves with artwork or photos from (original albums?) or otherwise. Also, many of these sleeves have the artists (Fiedler, Reiner...etc. portrayed with nice artwork on the backsides by Herschel Levit? Levant?---not sure of the last name. A bit hard to make out. Glassine inner sleeves inside of these. (One missing). Also, there is a sixteen page booklet included at the front of the set. All of this is spiral bound inside a large, thick, heavily padded vinyl flip-over cover. A beautiful set. The booklet gives all the particulars about the set including breaking down each record and its contents, history, etc. Also a discussion of the new "Stereo" sound. I will try to describe these record by record. The first record is excellent on one side. Pretty nice on the other side with one very light scratch?. A small line that is more like a scuff or a smudge. Can`t be felt and shouldn`t affect the play. The labels are excellent. Record 2 is also excellent with only a faint surface scuff or two. Shiny bright. No spindle tracks. Record 3 is excellent on one side and has two FAINT scuff/scratches on the other side. Shiny bright. Nothing to affect the play to any degree. The labels are nice. No spindle tracks. Record 4 is pretty nice on one side. Faint scuffing. The other side has a couple of large scratches but they are surface only. Very light. Another smaller one. The labels are nice. One has a couple of faint spindle tracks. Record 5 is excellent on one side. Pretty nice on the other side as well with two FAINT scratches. Shouldn`t affect the play. One label has just very faint spindle tracks. Record 6 is pretty much excellent all around. One very small faint scuff/scratch. Both labels are excellent. Record 7 is excellent on one side. The other side is mostly nice. There is one very small scratch on this side that can be felt. Still not really bad but it is possible that you may hear a faint "tick" or two. Great otherwise. Just a couple of small FAINT spindle tracks. Record 8 has one tiny little scuff mark on one side and one small very faint scratch on the other side. There shouldn`t be anything here to affect the play. The labels are nice. Record 9 is fairly nice with a couple of very light scratches on the first track on one side and some scuffing. Very light and shouldn`t affect the play. The other side has one VERY light scratch and some scuffing. Again, there shouldn`t be anything here to affect the play to any degree if at all. The labels are nice. Record 10 is excellent on both sides. Faint small spindle tracks on one label. That is it. I didn`t have time to play these, but I should think that these should play great except for the small scratch that I mentioned before. All are shiny bright and the labels are nice. The colorful bound in sleeves are all in pretty nice condition. Bright and colorful. Some occasional light spotting (foxing). Some of the glassine inner sleeves have some splits and tears. The large padded fold over cover is in pretty good condition. Bright and colorful on the front and the back. Just light wear on the edges and corners. Some spotting (foxing) on the spine. Morton Gould and His Orches.-"Copland-Billy The Kid/Rodeo". Jaschs Heifetz and Fritz Reiner w/Chicago Symphony Orches.- "Brahms Violin Concerto". Artur Rubinstein and Alfred Wallenstein -"Saint-Saens: Concerto No. 2/Franck: Symphonic Vaiations; Symphony Of The Air". Fritz Reiner and Chicago Symphony Orches.- "Moussorgsky/Ravel Pictures at An Exhibition". Charles Munch and Boston Symphony Orchestra-"Bolero, Afternoon of a Faun/Rapsodie Espagnole/La Valse". Reiner and The Chicago Symphony-"Prokofieff/Lieutenant Kije/ Stravinsky-Song of the Nightingale". A beautiful set and hard to find.
