RARE 12-inch shellac record: THE OWL SEXTETTE - Sneak Preview (Sweet Georgia Brown) / Owl Hoots - Fentone 53280 (with 2001 in the runouts); labels say "Norm Dolgin & Hal Fenton present BOP ON THE BARBARY COAST"; both are instrumentals; the players' names all have the surname "Hoot" (Izzy Hoot, Colt Hoot, etc; I wonder if some of them are actually known players); no date, but it was probably released in the 1940's. I can't find any currently available for sale, and only one completed auction - it sold for $160 in 2015; otherwise it doesn't even have a Discogs spot. I believe it's been rumored to have been part of a west coast session that may have included some big names of the time.

Condition is VG (moderate soft scuffing and some soft scratches which I can't feel; A-side is visually heavier with more soft scratches, but the only thing I can feel are a couple of soft scribble-scratches; also there is a larger scribble-scratch on the B-side (area of 1-inch square) that I can feel and will definitely cause some ticking; labels have rubbing and scuffing, and one has a sticker).

MORE TO COME - I've listed and will be listing many other 10" and 12" shellac records (blues, r&b, jazz) over the next few months.   A NOTE ON SHIPPING SHELLAC RECORDS: I use the floating method, with the record sandwiched between strong pieces of cardboard with corrugate in opposite directions, then placed inside a larger sturdy box with packing material all around inside to prevent any movement (either peanuts, large-bubble wrap, or crumpled paper). Sometimes if I have old 10" LP jackets I don't need, I will put your record in it before sandwiching; otherwise will be in a paper sleeve. I will also always insure these with the USPS. Due to the extra time, materials, insurance, and extra care, I'm asking $6.00 for Media Mail shipping ($4 is actual shipping cost).
