BOSTON SYMPHONY RADIO SHOW TRANSCRIPTION DISCS RECORDED BY INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS, INC. ONE APPROXIMATELY 50 MINUTE RADIO BROADCAST ON THESE TWO 16 INCH, BLACK LACQUER ACETATE 33 1/3 RPM DISCS. THESE DISCS WERE RECORDED FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
These discs feature a rare broadcast of The Boston Symphony Orchestra from February 2, 1946 performing "The Planets" composed by Gustav Holst. The symphony is under the direction of guest conductor Sir Adrian Boult.
The movements of "The Planets" include "Mars: Bringer Of War", "Venus: The Bringer Of Peace", "Mercury: The Winged Messenger", "Jupiter: The Bringer Of Jollity", "Saturn: The Bringer Of Old Age", "Uranus: The Magician", "Neptune: The Mystic"
The program is approximately 52 minutes. There is no opening announcement, the program begins with the first movement of the symphony. There is applause at the end of the program and a closing announcement
These discs came from the estate of Rudy Vallee and the writing on the label of side 3 is that of Rudy Vallee, however I do not know what connection Rudy Vallee had with this program
Discs are in Excellent+ Condition with Excellent+ to Near Mint- sound, Beautiful Discs!
