SUPER RARE 1955 MGM Label 78 rpm 2 Record Set! OVER THE RAINBOW and Other Tracks VG
With Judy Garland under contract to Decca Records, MGM created these recordings to promote the Wizard of Oz songs by Harold Arlen and "Yip" Harburg. Joel Herron conducts the orchestra and chorus featuring Lee Forester.


These albums were recorded by MGM Records in 1949 to tie-in with the 1949 theatrical re-release of the 1939 film. Although there was a 78rpm commercially released album of The Wizard of Oz released independently by Decca Records in 1940 to tie-in with the films original 1939 release, MGM Records, launched in 1946, did not release an original soundtrack album of The Wizard of Oz until the mid 1950’s to coincide with the films first television broadcast.
