Description
"St. Anthony Hospital Benefit With Mr. Bob Hope" Radio Show transcription disc recorded by KOA, Denver. One complete approximately 35 minute radio program on this 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm disc. This disc was recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, Very Rare!
This is an approximately 35 minute broadcast featuring an appearance by Bob Hope at a benefit dinner to begin a fundraising drive for St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
The program originates from the Emerald Room of the famous Brown Palace Hotel in Denver
The program begins with a member of the Navy making Bob Hope a honorary Admiral of the "Prairie Dog Navy". Bob Hope is also made an honorary sheriff of Denver.
Bob Hope then performs an approximately 13 minute comedy monologue. Bob Hope mentions Elvis Presley, says "three months ago he couldn't spell Kentucky, now he owns it". Hope mentions Bing Crosby and the possibility of him getting married, says "as he gets older his eyes get younger". A very funny monologue
Disc is in Very Good or better condition with Excellent- sound. There is some label damage which is visible in the scans. There is only one label on the disc. There are a couple of small chips in the acetate that cause pops but no skips. There is a spot on the edge where it looks like the acetate was repaired. There may be a few seconds of the program lost due to the disc switch. There are a few scratches that cause some clicks but no skips. Disc sounds better than it looks
Due to their size, radio transcription discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can make a CD copy of the entire disc for the buyer only
