Very rare 1957 Coral Records 9-61885 blue label Promo of "Peggy Sue" b/w "Everyday" by Buddy Holly. Record and labels are MINT, with only a very small light rub on the "A" side, barely noticeable. Machined matrix numbers "45 103180 31/45 103105 31" in the dead wax. Comes with the original Coral Records stock sleeve. Breathtaking!
This record was one of a group to have been given out by Lew Latto of WEBC radio at the January 31st, 1959 Buddy Holly concert held at the Duluth National Guard Armory in Duluth, Minnesota. Buddy Holly had begun a solo tour in that year with others including the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens. Lew Latto was the MC and promoter of the Duluth concert, the second to the last that Buddy Holly gave. His final show was at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa on February 2, 1959, prior to his fateful death the following day in a plane crash on his way to Fargo, North Dakota. This promotional record was not given out at the concert and was retained as part of Lew Latto's personal collection until the 70's, when it was given to one of his employees. Purchased from Lou Campbell of Duluth, MN, in June, 2003.
