Description
Here is a RARE vintage album from my collection offered up for sale: An original 1960 PROMO pressing of the album "IN STYLE WITH THE CRICKETS" , The Crickets first album released after the tragic early death of Buddy Holly. Buddy's good friend Sonny Curtis joins Jerry Allison & Joe B. Maulden for a great album of rockers! Songs include:The Sonny Curtis classic "I fought the law", Jerry Lee Lewis's "Great balls of fire", "More than I can say" written by Curtis & Allison (also a hit for the Everly brothers),Ting a ling ( Also recorded by Holly for Decca),California sun, and more! This is a first pressing radio station promotional pressing released in 1960 by Coral Records, CRL 57320 (mono), this is an original first pressing on rigid vinyl with special blue promotional DJ labels (regular pressings have maroon or rainbow color labels) and the PROMO STAMPED textured paper cover.
The record grades in the Good+/ VG range, this vinyl has a nice gloss, shows a lot of marks and sleevewear , has been PLAY TESTED and plays great from start to finish with good sound quality! Some surface noise here and there but still an enjoyable listen overall. The rock n roll comes through, NO skips or jumps. The blue promo labels are bright and clean, has only a few spindle marks!
The textured paper cover rates VG/VG+, front is clean and bright with no ring wear, edges and corners have only light wear, top and bottom seams had splits neatly taped, binder has minimal wear and is readable, no signatures or writing, back has a couple small light stains, rare 52 year old promo cover! Includes vintage printed inner sleeve. (see all photos)
