We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. BEAUTIFUL =MINT= CLEAN VINYL (see full details below)

Original 1969 BRITISH first pressing only released in England...on the "IN" sound grooves UK Immediate label, owned by '60s Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham....

Clearly more a reflection of Peter Frampton's idealism than his partner, Steve Marriott's...this is a fantastic effort from Humble Pie. Marriott never sounded more subdued & focused than he did on this album, which makes his contributions some of his best. In later albums, some of Marriott's vocal histrionics became so overpowering that it often masked the great musicality underneath. Not so here, as tracks like "Sad Bag of Shakey Jake" & "Down Home Again" prove. While Frampton's "Take Me Back" & "Home & Away" are potent contrasts as well making this album one of our favorite Humble Pie releases.

Since the album making coincided with his last stage performances with the Small Faces, Steve Marriott’s state-of-mind was tranquil ...his definite departure from and the group’s temporary halt, little Steve actually kept on lucidly playing many of the cards he had hidden up his sleeves as a careful listen demonstrates; on the other hand this one was also an opportunity for the other band members to further and deeper express their individual visions as contrary to the first Humble Pie album when Marriott had the lion’s share of songwriting credits, he’s here only responsible for 4 tracks.

Peter Frampton’s role is not only boosted by the album’s acoustic opener “Take Me Back”, a song with a very pastoral vibe, underpinned by a muscular bass line but with percussive backing of tambourine and congas and living mostly of shimmering 12-strings strumming and nylon guitar embellishments and solos, as he also starts revealing his future signature sound with the distinctive electric keys on the melodic rock of “Only You Can See” (once again great bass work and sparkling guitar ornamentation); Greg Ridley shows he was not impervious to those Eastern winds that had blown across the British Isles and influenced everyone from the Beatles to the Stones, as his “The Light of Love” with buzzing sitar, tablas and ethereal mantra like vocals shows.  Drummer Jerry Shirley contributed with the languid but hopeful, electric piano driven “Cold Lady” a track with a certain The Band-like feel and which plausibly thanks to Marriott’s energizing vocals would make the B-Side of the only Single that was taken from the album. Last but not least the closing “Home and Away”, jointly penned by the bassist and Frampton blends lilting popsike instincts with brief Spooky Tooth-like organ drenched passages in what is the album’s longest track, an elaborate piece with mini-epic pretensions which also includes a fine instrumental section and where after a very typical late 60’s fade out/fade in studio trick, the initial theme resumes in a softer acoustic mode.

As for Steve Marriott, although his Muse was not particularly active or inspired, he either illustrated the second part of the album’s title with the electrified rural rocker “The Sad Bag of Shaky Jane” (the A-Side of the aforementioned Single) and the more Dylan-esque troubadour-like “Every Mother’s Son” (a good occasion to exhibit the acoustic chops of both guitarists), or the “Town” part with the slow-paced “Silver Tongue” and a kaleidoscopic mix of phasing and searing fuzzed guitar tones in a tune with a simple structure but great emotion where he occasionally goes for an unusual but as always effective hushed vocal register, and when resurrecting his primary instincts on the powerful rocker “Down Home Again”.

All said, the album is a worthy effort proving that the Humble Pie was no short-sighted unit.

CONDITION: The cover: very fragile UK production is clean, about VG++ pretty clean, lightly used around edges, consider this pretty much as good as it gets, the extremely wear-prone paper-thin cover is full of original colors - not with the rips and tears usually found, nor dirt and soil, so all said collection keeper what with the =MINT= vinyl included. No split seams, or alarming issues makes this collection worthy ...

The vinyl: very clean over both sides, rated: "M-"  top-most vinyl and plays super! Both UK Immediate labels are clean....
