CLEAN & RARE advance release WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL with song list promo sticker on front cover   Hard to find in any pressing, but the limited white label promo is a desireable collectible for sure...thee original 1969 first pressing of the very first AMBROSE "SLADE" album ... tightly styled electrified freakbeak with an edge...   One of the most successful British bands of the early '70s, Slade made it to the top of the charts after several years on the road. The band formed in 1966 in Wolverhapton as the In-Betweens. After taking on former Animals bassist Chas Chandler as their manager, they changed their name to Ambrose Slade, then shortened it to Slade.
Around 1967 / 1968 the British band the In-Betweens had built quite a reputation in the Wolverhampton area. They had even played concerts on the continent (Germany and Spain).

With their new name Ambrose Slade, the band's first album (1969) presented strong slices of fuzz guitar led freakbeat, cool enough that UK Fontana label originals have fetched $200 - $300+++ for years ... the album delivers a constant blend of edgey hardrock highlighted by bent edges that invokes the freaky shake appeal...includes "Mad Dog Cole" "Roach Daddy" "Fly Me High" "Genesis" and other cool grooves...perhaps the best song is the riviting infectious "Knocking Nails Into My House" ... It's all the full Slade line up but in their freak/psych days

  • Everybody's Next One
  • Knocking Nails into My House
  • Roach Daddy
  • Ain't Got No Heart
  • Pity the Mother
