Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. RARE & SOUGHT ...1970 original on the collected UK "B&C" label ...houdsed in a fragile but colorful die-cut designed gatefold design... GINHOUSE is a fantastic release somewhat typical of the hard prog bands from England in the early 70's like T-2, Arc, Spontaneous Combustion, Paladin, etc in that the songs are complex and proggy but still with a nice Hard rock edge due to basically power trio format without getting terribly "Heavy" or bombastic, relying instead on interesting songs and tight playing and great use of DYNAMICS. Hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, GINHOUSE were a short lived Progressive Rock trio featuring GEOFF SHARKEY (Lead Guitar & Vocals), STEWART BURLINSON (Bass Guitar & Vocals) and DAVE WHITTAKER (Drums). This power trio played a highly imaginative and powerful form of rock, coming to the attention of B&C Records in 1970. The band recorded their only album at Abbey Road studios with producer Anders Henriksson (also producer of the legendary Quatermass). The resulting record featured excellent original compositions such as ‘Tyne God’, ‘The Journey’, ‘The House’ and ‘Sun in a Bottle’, along with a highly effective reworking of The Beatles’ ‘And I Love Her’. Disbanding soon after the release of their only album, the music of GINHOUSE is now highly sought after by collectors of early 70s Progressive Rock. GINHOUSE guitarist & vocalist Geoff Sharkey gives his views on each song: "Jamming was a major part of our rehearsals so anything went & everyone had space to explore their instrument & contribute with feel & dynamics so all was maximised. This was the joy of this musical period which seems to have been lost over the "studio years". Improvisation is essential. All songs & chord structures came quite easily as I was always looking for the unusual & unsettling so it was edgey but the vocals had to flow over the top easily and the lyrics were always full of imagery, a legacy from my love of literature& composition at school. Everyone was tuned in & ready to go." Tyne God – Inspired by the statue at the Civic Centre in Newcastle & times I had spent down by the Tyne on cold misty mornings. You could see the river from my house. The start had to be slow & evocative, over lapping feel, hence the answering phrases, building up to a working day then quite frantic loads of time changes & feels, then back to relaxed.I Cannot Understand – I wanted this to be a jazzy feel then more urgent & desperate for the chorus. Good live opening number.
The Journey – Newcastle Central Station, it was where everyone met and the starting point, a great station cold, windy & a lovely steel framework, lots of imagery. The journey south, the old 1st class carraiges, sliding doors & windows, conversations, excitement, slow fast build- ups then abstract, thoughtful wandering away at the end.
Portrait Picture – Wrote the lyric first, chilled start then dramatic chords. Had a vision of this framed picture seeing everything in life happen but unable to do anything so kind of frustrated, frantic solo then back to reflection, touched of Aidrian Grey bit demonic then sweet again.
Fair Stood The Wind –Found the bass riff on piano, then built up the words. I was into abstract images and liked the simple repeation, then the build up to the storm, quite dramatic.
And I Love Her – The first song I decided to completley re-arrange. I loved the song in the Beatles black & white "Hard days night" movie, dark & moody but light also. I wanted it to work live and have light & shade but lots of drama
Life – Tight rolling start then drive with colourful words & an observers view on life. The words were random thoughts of world events & pictures with the minstral as the centre
The Morning After – A very 'Who' influenced start, intense feel, again driving & punchy. I remember I wanted the chorus to be memorable. The tiltle is self explanitory. This didn't come across as well on record as it did live.
The House – This one I wrote the lyrics at school with a very clear image of the whole thing. The chords & shape came easily, then the dramatic middle section, all time changes & that bass riff & floating guitar, back to the story, liked the jazzy end
Sun In The Bottle – Liked the title then let random lyrics fall into place The end was just a nice discordant jam, good way to end me hinks!.
CONDITION: The Cover: the extremely fragile die-cut gatefold cover is all but impossible to find in top condition and this one, while highly collectible has the issues of a price tag pull at top right corner area and bumped corners, plus a touch of light shelf rub (nothog bad or extreme, see) will rate a collection worthy strong VG+ and better, very colorful all over... SO hard to find THIS clean (very wear prone cover - near ALL copies found with wear & issues) ... NO delete marks, no split seams, no writing ...
The Vinyl: is all glossy and shiny, "EX" (excellent) looks very clean ...expect to play with quite enjoyable audio ...
