PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Admitting a challenging album to describe due to the highly creative self-compositions involved and drenched in an array of Eastern pro- performed ethnic instruments... end result is a winning combination of tracks that are presented throughout. First pressed on the obscure BLA-BLA Records Italian early 70's label who released famous now-expensive prog-psych Lp's such as the OSAGE TRIBE, CAPSICUM RED, AKTUALA and BATTIATO ... Aktualla sound like a backing band to later 70's Battiato LP rarities
Highly unusual for an Italian group swaying onward and beyond from the typical "symphonic" British/American progressive rock formats yet their puzzle of Eastern/Arabic influences fit right into these 'heady' eastern progressive ideas. . This is the very first album by a highly creative Italian quintet who found an exotic eastern pathway unto its own. Indeed, ACTUALA probably took their hippie trip to India and never really came back
ACTUALA's innovative reflective journey relies solely on Eastern Indian music merged in progressive zones, not trying to change or formalize the styles as much as other "specialist" groups such as British "Quintessence" or the German "Embryo".
Actuala uses only instruments in a progressive music format with far Eastern flavors avoiding the Indian sitar. The only non-conventional-sounding instruments are meshing winds, which bring in a unification of phrasing into their special trip.
Clearly lead by the multi-instrumentalist Walter Maioli, the group's opening track (the aptly- named "When the Light Began") is a good injection of progressive / Indian music, merging rather strangely yet completely coherent in their chaotic music mixture, resembling what Buddhist monks can do, if laced with complex rhythms.
"Altamira" is a descriptive track invoking a night in the jungle
As the second side of the vinyl starts in a calm manner, drifting to the Arabian-sounding "Sarah's Ngewha", retaining an Indian feel caused by Balalaïka guitar-style strummings accompanied with complex wind weavings. Maybe their most interesting track on this album. The next track is close to Moroccan 'Jujube' music, and serves Aktuala to show that they're around (mentally at least), because of sounding out of context musically as it does geographically.
The closing "Dejanira" might just be their most personal track centered on a swami evasion with an also groovy ethnic feel.
One might wonder to the question as to what exactly brought this kind of record together sounding like a direction serving a natural link to groups like 'Embryo' or 'Quintessence', for the sake of experimentation alone
