We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Bridget St John released 4 important Lp's in England from 1969 to 1974. Three of the albums were issued on the legendary British DJ John Peel's "Dandelion" label.
St John appeared at leading folk venues in the UK, along with other folk and pop luminaries of the time such as Nick Drake, Paul Simon, and David Bowie, among others.
In 1974, the year of this album, Bridget St John was voted fifth most popular female singer in that year's U.K. ''Melody Maker'' readers poll. Blessed with a "rich cello-like" vocal style, she is also an accomplished guitar player who credits both John Martyn and Michael Chapman as her influences.
...ethereal female vocals. Stunningly great and getting rarer every minute. Bridget St John played alongside some pretty varied acts, including Bowie, Deep Purple, King Crimson and Jethro Tull. How did she go down with some of their audiences? The "fan-man" asked her:
"For the most part, I remember feeling these audiences accepted me and listened to me; I got positive reaction. The only gig that sticks in my memory as being negative performance was one that even before I got to the venue I was sure would not work. The Groundhogs (the heavy-rock British blues band) had a single that was number three in the charts and were booked to play Newcastle Town Hall. The promoter liked my music and booked me to open. From the minute I walked onto the stage the chant of ‘Groundhogs! Groundhogs!’ roared incessantly through the room – and after five or six songs I left the stage; I couldn’t hear me, and they couldn’t hear me! But you could say that I warmed them up well!"
Bridget St. John's fourth album, 1974 "JUMBLE LANE QUEEN" fell somewhere between vintage British folk-rock and the kind of singer/songwriter approach of early Joni Mitchell. It was a low-key, agreeable affair of sophisticated romantic ruminations. Though a couple of songs came from outside sources, most of the material was self-penned, and rather self-effacing, with assistance from backup musicians including ex-King Crimson drummer Mike Giles and noted acoustic guitarist Stefan Grossman.
