Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ‘Stevie’ Wright has been called Australia’s first international pop star.From 1965-1969 he was the lead singer for the wild & exciting garage/beat band The Easybeats, widely regarded as the greatest Australian rock band of the Sixties.
During his time with The Easybeats he was popularly and affectionately known as "Little Stevie". He co-wrote many of their early hits (including "Sorry" and "I’ll Make You Happy"), and was vocalist on their biggest hit "Friday on My Mind" (1967), which, was voted the Best Australian Song of All Time and made the Top 20 in both the UK and the U.S. He was also renowned for his energetic stage performance which included acrobatic back-flips and mod dance moves!
After the break-up of The Easybeats in 1969, Stevie returned to Sydney from England. 1974 saw Wright reunite with former Easybeats cohorts Harry Vanda and George Young. In addition to producing Wright's solo debut "Hard Road", the pair played on most of the album and contributed about half of the material, with Wright responsible for the balance. Musically the set was quite diverse, showcasing Wright's raw and raspy voice on a collection that aptly demonstrated his rock credentials and the album was literally a precursor to the hard rock sound that would start to invade 1970s. In fact, for AC/DC fans, Angus and Malcolm Young have long been rumored to have played on the set. Some of the albums highlights include:
The biographical 'Hard Road' made it obvious why Wright was reportedly briefly considered by AC/DC as a replacement for Bon Scott. The two had very similar voices and deliveries. A howling slice of rock and roll anger and frustration, it was almost scary hearing Wright claw his way through this one. You literally couldn't help but wonder if the man's head was gonna explode. Killer chorus too boot. 'Life Gets Better' was a far more pop oriented song. The funny thing was that Wright's pop voice sounded completely different this time out. Yeah, he still had a dry, strangled delivery, but it was quite likeable here. Should've been released as a single.
'I Got You Good' was a mindless slice of boogie propelled by a snarling Wright lead vocals. 'Dancing in the Limelight' for friends sounds like it is off of an early AC/DC album. The resemblance to Bon Scott's voice and delivery was truly remarkable on this one. Another Vanda-Young composition, 'Didn't I Take You Higher' was one of the album's highlights. Great fuzz-propelled rocker, a hysterical Wright spoken word segment and a killer chorus.
Side two started with what was probably Wright's commercial and creative zenith. Penned by Vanda and Young, 'Evie' was a three part suite that managed to encapsulate the highs and lows in a relationship - lust, family joy, and heartbreak all in just over eleven minutes. Part 1 'Let Your Hair Down' was a take no prisoners rocker that was simply mesmerizing. The near perfect rocker. Very nice and easily the album's highpoint.
Elsewhere, 'Movin' On Up' proved surprisingly likeable with some highly ironic lyrics.
Then, 'Commando Line' may have been the catchiest and most accessible track on the album. It certainly served to showcase Wright's voice at it's most dynamic. pt credits: Badcat, thrilling gear on the web,check. CONDITION: The cover: Very very fragile cover is most hard to find without severe bends, tears and wear ...it obviously wasn't made to last...so consider this a TOP copy rated "EX" (excellent) only showing very slight visible handling, otherwise nice...no alarming problems anywhere
