Ask Me Why
You are bidding on one of the most highly-sought-after Beatles 45 rpm record.
VJ Vee Jay Records 498 (6th and last stock pressing) – Black rainbow Color Band label w/brackets logo.
Artist spelled correctly as "THE BEATLES". Thick print.
Dead wax markings are hand written.
SIDE I: 63-2967 -- Triangle-46527
SIDE II: 63-2968 -- Triangle-46527-X
AudioMatrix is stamped on both sides. Monarch stamp in front of numbers.
Both sides of the dead wax also shows a scribble by the center ridge.... "RA"
The Vee Jay Record Company paper sleeve is from 1963.
Vee-Jay sold approximately 5,650 copies during the first half of 1963.
A limited pressing of the single in 1964 added sales of approximately 1,650 units, raising total sales to 7,310 copies.
This total sales includes Oval or Brackets Labels and the double "t" or one "t" in the group's name.
When this 45 was released in 1963, the label was printed with a double "t" error in the group's name.
Vee-Jay realized the error and corrected the group's name on the labels.
YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE CORRECTED LABEL VARIATION WITH THE CORRECTED SPELLING OF THE "BEATLES"
This "BRACKETS" variation was first printed by Ivy Hill Lithograph Corp. in Great Neck, New York, in January 1964. The record was pressed by Monarch.
It is noted that ONLY 1,650 copies of the BRACKETS Label variation were pressed and sold in early March 1964.
This version, up for bid with the BRACKETS label and CORRECTED spelling of the group's name would most likely be harder to find.
