PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ALTERNATE VERSIONS 1966 - 1967 WEST COAST ROCK ARTIFACT!
BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD
= STAMPEDE =
USA - TAKRL 1921
Obscure and mysterious issue, certainly a limited pressing, had not seen this version before with black and white wrap around slicks on black cover. Has to be from many many moons ago ... interesting West Coast rock artifact circa 1966-67...
Stampede was to be the second album by Buffalo Springfield but it was never released by Atco Records. But the company did make an album cover for it. On the sleeve bassist Bruce Palmer is seen with his head down. This is because it was not him. Palmer was deported on drug charges to Canada and was not able to make the cover shoot. One great track that was never released while the group was together is Down to the Wire, a great rocker with heavy fuzz guitar. Like Neil's Chrome Dreams, Buffalo Springfield's Stampede is a legendary lost album. Unlike that non-release, however, this one was less an album and more a concept--a title, in short, to fill the time in the months following the release of the Springfield's first LP, when the fabric which held the band together was beginning to fray. Neil's tracks include "Down to the Wire," "There Goes My Baby" and "One More Sign". The alternate version of "Do I Have To Come Right Out and Say It," with Richie Furay on lead vocal, graces this disc, too. And, if you're into the Springfield, this is more than worthwhile. Among the highlights is a version of "Down to the Wire" featuring Stephen Stills on lead vocal. Suffice it to say, it rocks. There's also quite a few songs featuring Richie Furay on lead, including "My Kind of Love" (later recorded and released by Poco). Also of note are the five tracks tacked on at the end which features the Springfield in concert. The liner notes claim the set was recorded in "early 1967" at "Whittier High School." Was this with or without Neil? In his excellent book on the Springfield, For What It's Worth, John Einarson says no. Which is probably the case, as the songs feature Stills, Furay and "Nobody's Fool" Dewey Martin on lead vocals. The studio out-takes are: "Neighbor Don't Worry," "Down to the Wire #1," "Do I Have to Come Right Out and Say It," "Instrumental #1," "Instrumental #2," "My Kind of Love," "Baby Don't Scold Me #1," "Baby Don't Scold Me #2," "Down to the Wire #2," We'll See," "There Goes My Baby," "Neighbor Don't Worry," "Ringing Bells," "One More Sign," and "Come On." The live material is: "Pay the Price," "Nobody's Fool," "Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing," "Rock 'n' Roll Woman," and "My Kind of Love." The sound on the studio tracks is as you might expect for the recording genre (excellent mono); And, as stated above, the sound quality of the live material is one step above dismal, but oh-so-rare. It is still recommended to Springfield devotees. Neighbor Don't Worry, Down to the Wire, Do I Have to Come Right Out and Say It, Raga #1, Raga #2, My Kind of Love, Baby Don't Scold Me #1, Baby Don't Scold Me #2, Down to the Wire, We'll See, There Goes My Baby, Neighbor Don't Worry #2, Ringing Bells, One More Sign, Come On, Pay the Price, Nobody's Fool, Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing, Rock 'n' Roll Woman, My Kind of LoveCONDITION: The cover: front & back wraparound white & black slick on black cover, "EX" (excellent) to M- =no problems....
The vinyl: all clean and smooth M- over both sides...expect audio playback to be fine without problems...
