PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 17,000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Captain Beefheart was one of modern music's true innovators. The owner of a remarkable four-and-one-half octave vocal range, he employed idiosyncratic rhythms, absurdist lyrics and an unholy alliance of free jazz, Delta blues, latter-day classical music and rock & roll to create a singular body of work virtually unrivalled in its daring and fluid creativity which flourisjes all over the aptly titled "Lick My Decals Off, Baby!"
Stylistically similar to TROUT MASK REPLICA with the important differences of being only a single album and having (or at least appearing to have) only one guitar. As such, the guitar and bass are in separate speakers and the instrumental interplay and overall sound is much thicker and bassier. This is excellent for all those folks who loved the challenging nature of Trout Mask but were turned off by the noodly wiry high-twangin' guitars. Actually, I don't even know if such people exist. But if they do, they dance around in the little Dandelion Park of Happy Dreams and peacefully cohabit with all the other villagers of NiceLand.
So yes, it's bassier and fuller, but just as rhythmically and melodically confusing and complicated, with the added element of "vibes" or "xylophone" or whatever it is that Ruth Underwood used to play in Frank Zappa's band way back in the 1970s America. And the ol' Cap is up to his usual tricks, shouting in no rhythm at all and casting song titles like "I Love You, You Big Dummy," "I Wanna Find A Woman That'll Hold My Big Toe Till I Have To Go" and "The Buggy Boogie Woogie." Can you believe this crazy kook?
