Description

Chapter One Records ran from May 1968 through to November 1973 and released only 189 records on 7". Some are very common. Some are not so common. Some are very, very hard to track down. This is a very, very hard to find 7". Not only is it hard to find, it is also one brilliant tune. The song Sharkey is about a guy who is the toughest on the avenue, kicks a ball through Stephen Murdochs window,hits bus conductors, supports United, has a tie with a naked lady on it, smokes 10 cigarettes without getting sick and gets into all sorts of scrapes. An instantly incredibly catchy tune and a window on street life in the very early 70's. I knew a family with the surname Sharkey who hailed from Carslisle and i can just imagine this fella being one of their clan. I don't really collect records - i have a box with a few very special discs in. This is that good that i am loathe to sell it and teetered on the brink of keeping it. The only place you will ever hear this is on some very obscure compilation lp. You will not be disappointed,i promise you. The B side is not that bad either, with a dark hook of a tune. A classic disc. Happy bidding.
