Hard to find SECOND and last LP by FAT, recorded in the early 70s.

This was a perfect SEALED COPY, opened and played one time, virtually new, rated STONE MINT, yet is the original issue from 43 years ago.

Small local North East label release by Western Massachusetts' Fat, recorded soon after their first LP on RCA but drug-bust problems led the major label to drop the mighty FAT from their roster. "FOOTLOOSE" was finally released in the mid '70s on the tiny "Dream Merchant" label, no wonder it's far harder to find than their already scarce RCA '70 LP. Two original members left the hard way (see above RCA problems) and were replaced (lead guitar and drums). This LP features a surprisingly polished production, surprising when they had lost their major label budget. Fear not, Cream and Mountain song writer and Mountain bassist/co vocalist Felix Papalardi produced "Footloose" to perfection. Original FAT singer Peter Newland's vocals are just as strong as ever even if his lyrics are less poetic and existential. All told it's a solid record. Get it While It's Hot is the highlight, that leads off starting side two, it's a longer high energy song with a great guitar solo. Elsewhere Bistro City is an interesting jazz-funk-rock jamming song with singer Newland on flute.

"FAT" toured extensively as the opening act for the Allman Brothers in the Duane Allman era. Fat's mix of east coast blues and west coast psychedelia, strongly influenced by Quicksilver Messenger Service et al, could have propelled the band into the big time, but the unfortunate drug bust led RCA to cancel this planned follow-up album, and try as they might, the group were unable to secure another recording contract, until released in the late '70s on "Dream Merchant" an independent label of utter obscurity, produced by ex-Mountain man, Felix Papallardi. "
