PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ORIGINAL '70s FIRST PRESS
FLOATING PROG PSYCH DREAMSCAPE
AZAHAR
"ELIXER"
\ SPAIN - MOVIE PLAY - 17.1235/6
TOP COPY ...seldom seen::::
RARE and SOUGHT for good reason...this is one of the best prog/psych '70s albums to come out of SPAIN ...very ceative and original arrangements with impeccable keys/guitar passages loaed with cool atmospherics...
- Dick Zappala / vocals, keyboards, percussion
- Antonio Valls / mandolin, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, Spanish guitar
- Gusatovo Ros / synthesizer, mellotron, Fender Rhodes, piano
- Jorge Barral / bass, percussion, acoustic guitar, Spanish guitar
What a peculiar band were Azahar! They created a rough sound, an energetic combination of ethereal keyboard symphonics and guitar riffs, the bassist made his instrument assume a prominent position, the guitar solos were quite rocky, and the occasional synth solos and harmonies served as an appropriate match, and last but not least, Zappala's passionate singing added some more fire to the band's musical flame during his interventions. and yet, they had no drummer.
The music on the AZAHAR "ELIXER" album is so exciting that you don't really even notice the lack of drums. This band in their heyday supported ‘counter-culture’ leanings. Lead singer Dick Zappala was supposedly deported from Spain for using the band to try and promote a legalization of marijuana agenda, only to re-enter the country and rejoin the band before they finally broke up. The instrumental passages are quite soaring, as if the notes were floating in the air while the sun sets on the edge of some Andalusian coast. The opener 'Campos de Azahar' is an eerie exotic gem, and so are the melancholic 'Mercaderes' and the joyful 'Cántaros Fire', while '¡Is This Not Named!' portrays a more symphonic drive. The latter is one of the finest pieces in the album, complex and full of twists, yet none of these twists feels forced or gratuitous: each and every shift of pace is cleverly placed as a connection between one preceding section and the following one. Elsewhere is the pro-marijuana claim for '¿Too Bad There's Honor?' and existentialist concerns for 'Un A Tired Man". The albums main focus is the phantastic closing three-section suite 'Travel To Morocco', which finds the band exploring diverse motifs, harmonies and textures for an 11+ minute mini epic. The exotic element is enhanced here in a most fascinating manner. The culminating climax closes down the album with full passion: the guitarist Valls seems to have kept his best soloing for these moments, while the keyboard layers expand themselves in order to create an atmosphere of elation. A great ending to a record many adventuristic prog-psych heads will most definitely dig!
