Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP $4.00 Media; 2-4 discs $5.00; .50 each additional disc Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. RARE!!! COOL OLD 70's HARD ROCK PRIVATE PRESS WINNER!!!
GROUND ZERO
Tokyo Express
\ USA - PRIVATE PRESS - Retread Records
RARE...sought after (by those in the know!) ...Original 70's first pressing TOP HARDROCK collectible...
GROUND ZERO exploded onto the Chicago scene in the 70's. They served up LOUD, hard, grab you by the balls, performance HARDrock. As one rock journo put it - “they deliver the art of the live gig”. Ground Zero blended the Voelkel brothers umbilical-synch rhythm section with guitar virtuoso Gregg Barker’s mind boggling guitar leads and Pete “wild-man” Mrakovich’s vocals and showmanship. Fans across the midwest and as far away as Japan lapped up their debut album Tokyo Express. A second album was well on the way when the band broke up under unexplained circumstances. Anyone remotely into the likes of such hardrock 70's collectibles such as Poobah, Truth And Janey, Scorcery, Thunderpussy, Totty, etc etc are going to need to check this album out...a QUALITY power-rock sound from start to end, loaded with great sounding guitar - wired to the max within strong self penned tunes...
Ground Zero's album Tokyo Express was recorded at Salvatori Sound over a period of three weeks in the late 70's. The band set-up their full stage gear in the studio and played each song live with as little overdubbing as possible to capture the energy of their live performances. It was produced by Ground Zero and Michael Salvatori and mastered by Diskwerks. The album was released on the Retread Records, issued in limited quantity and now commands collector $$$ prices.... Label.
The band members continue to create original must-listen music. Alan Voelkel (the most effected by the break-up) changed his name to Javier, swapped drums for bass and now speaks in an affected English accent. He went on to record with latin funksters - Joshua Rocks. Jon Voelkel moved to England to attempt a reverse invasion with punk rock legends M40. He was last seen playing the nose flute on a Maya pyramid in the Guatemalan rainforest. Gregg continues to rock Chicago under many guises (ie DeStijl, Fish Club, Brave New Squirrels, Special Fred, Paulina, The Gregg Barker Ennui, Fried Toast, etc) He is the aspiration for a whole new generation of inspiring musicians. Pete - the consummate showman, plays with Vinyl Dog Toys and writes unusual songs about fruits and vegetables.
