Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! Very scarce ACID ARCHIVES ...final collection copy:

INTENSELY trippy early ambient consisting of a guy doing drums/percussion and a guy doing keyboards and effects. Except, and we promise you this, this never once evokes 'new age.' It's not so much that the music is aggressive, but the sheer density of the soundscape absolutely is. It's often overwhelming, particularly when it's compounded by the kitchen sink studio effects that were added. And yet it's never off-putting. It's a remarkable balance.

A cornerstone in psychedelic music, Moolah seemed to develop their own laid-back style of the sound that was (before this) pretty exclusive to German bands. They play a euphoric interpretation on trance/drone atmospheres, in the same vein as some Faust bits (mainly the Faust "IV" Lp). Their take on electronic rock isn't too invasive, something that most bands from the Krautrock scene failed to master.

Either way, this is an amazing listen. The layering going on in even the first song "Crystal Waters", with manic drumming and pillars of electronic sounds is enough to knock many back. "Terror is Real" is an excursion into the American Cold War psyche, and as such, is a harrowing, terrifying track. That's not to say, however, that this isn't a brilliant track. Atavistic drums are the only concrete part in this entire track, the rest of the sounds we hear are only there for a second, alien transmissions from a different universe. "Courage", the last track on the A side, is the best track on the album. The piano part, while simple, add to the monolithic nature of the music, the electronics that are backing them bleed through in waves, fluctuating in and out. The whole song is a great trip.

"The Hard Hit" begins the second side as a sort of
psychedelic trance sound. There are no real weak songs on the album, they are all more or less masterpieces. "Mirror's" is an abstract noise fantasia that by many years beyond predates bands like Sightings, Black Dice, and Animal Collective. "Redemption" is a perfect way to end the album. It feels like a acid trip through a damp forest. All negative moments are erased, and the albums closes leaving the audience wanting more. "Woe, Ye Demons Possessed" isn't quite music: it's more. It is a catharsis that is matched only on a few select albums. Criminally overlooked/unknown to say the least

To put it succinctly, this is America’s Krautrock album. The real deal, circa 1974, not a revisionist history job, or a cheap hipster imitation. Moolah were the duo of Walter Burns and Maurice Roberson, who play a variety of keyboards, percussion, voices/tapes, anything that looked like an instrument, and other found sounds. And, naturally, all blown through the funz-a-poppin’ blender of studio trickery (backwards masking, phasing, filtered, you name it, it’s here).

The aural equivalent of a dangerous taxi ride back to your island villa.
