AMAZING COLLECTION OF HOME RECORDINGS 78 RPM
This is an interesting collection of homerecorded 78 rpm discs, some 7 in, some 10, but almost all are V++ to E-. They play amazingly well, and only one or two had a skip that required added weight on the stylus.
I will describe each disc below, and I put small numbers on each disc so I could key the comments to specific records. Overall, it sounds like a professional entertainment family—there’s a main announcer/commentator, and a couple of additional family members who sing and play ukelele or piano. Some of it seems like radio skit material, and other stuff is “dirty” humor, a few risqué songs, some racial slurs, some offensive material. Some of it is radio transcriptions of big acts like Glen Miller. I tried to decipher the handwriting on the discs themselves, but I can’t tell whether the family name is Rollo, Rolla, or if that’s short for something else.

1. E- comedians singing / conversation with two old men and a woman
2. V++ “Girls Claire Rolla (?)” college scene / woman “taking a crap” / in the lavatory; Rollo Jack (?) football game
3. E- Woman singing “where shall I go when I go” w/ ukulele / “a star fell out of heaven”
4. V++ conversation “Bob Wellani(?) Whistling / V- skip first few grooves but cool conversation about recording techniques and phonograph records
5. E- “My girlfriend Rolla; whistling; some profanity & slurs / lots of cursing!
6. E- Conversations with “celebrities,” seems like radio skit (no real celebrities) / “Rollie”? singing/ a capella
7. E- radio audience name is maybe “Rollie Calamin”? Woman sings an original called “fools rush in” / uke, woman singing anyone seen my gal
8. V++ Radio transcription of a song called “Mr Meadowlark” sounds like the same woman as above/ Interviews with friends
9. E- radio transcription of Hawaiian music / rolla interviews his dad
10. V- Whistling/ comedian skips (you need to put a penny or two on stylus) / E- duet “Miriam slack (?) and Bob Parker (?)

3. I surrender dear / where shall I go “clem, rolla, mel”
4. Belmont: 1. Conversation between 2 southernors about cotton / discussion of recording tchniques, mentions bluebird records 3. Strange radio trranscipt?
