Description

# Serge Prokofiev: Symphony No. 6

## Walter Weller conducting The London Philharmonic Orchestra

### Ultra-Rare German Audiophile Test Pressing / White Label Promo LP (Decca Stereo SXL 6777 Reissue)

Up for auction is a premier audiophile rarity: an authentic **German Test Pressing / White Label Promo** ("Unverkäufliche Musterplatte") of the February 1997 audiophile reissue of Prokofiev's powerful *Symphony No. 6* (originally recorded in November 1975 at Kingsway Hall, London).

This historic performance was remastered from the original analogue session tapes. The lacquers were cut in London by top mastering engineer Paschal Byrne at DECCA using a Neumann VMS 80 lathe with a Studer A 80 tape machine. Pressed onto premium **180g Virgin Vinyl** in Germany, each commercial edition was capped at a strict 1,000 copies per stamper. An advance *Musterplatte* test pressing like this is exceptionally scarce and highly sought after by serious classical music collectors.
