Description
This is the legendary ultra rare 1st issue pressing of the Beatles 'Please Please Me' album - Original 1963 Black Gold Parlophone 1st issue pressing UK Mono PCM 1202 'Dick James' mis-credit.
For reference I have been collecting vinyl for the past 20 years and am familiar with relevant grading. I am selling this album for my mother as she was blissfully unaware of its true value.
Vinyl - VG
I have played it recently, as expected with an item of this age there are surface/hairline scratches on both sides. I have listened to this album and played both sides on a Technics 1210 - I think the vinyl plays beautifully, the sound quality is accurate and without the occasional snap, crackle and pop you would lose it authentic appeal.
Cover/Sleeve/Label - VG
The cover is bright with some areas of creasing and surface marks and blemishes as can be seen by the supporting images. I have included various angles.

Please Please Me, Parlophone, PMC 1202, 03.22.63, mono. The Beatles FIRST official L.P. release. For the ONLY time, the mono version was issued 6 weeks BEFORE the stereo version. This album contained the “A” and “B” sides of their first two singles, plus 10 new songs. All recorded in one incredible session at Abbey Road. The session cost just ?400 and lasted 16 hours.
The first pressing has Ernest J.Day & Co. front laminated cover, with large “mono” on front. The photo credit for the front cover: “Photo Angus McBean” is printed in the lower right corner. The text starts at the end of “s” in “songs”.
1. First pressing. March 22, 1963. The first pressing has black label with gold print and “Parlophone Co. Ltd.” printed at the start perimeter print. “Dick James Mus. Co”uncorrect publishing credit for “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Misery”, “Do You Want To Know A Secret” & “There’s A Place”. With or without tax code and with 33 1/3 on the label. Tax code variations: ZT, MT, ZMT. Polythene-lined “Use Emitex” die-cut inner sleeve. Matrix numbers: Side 1: XEX 421-1N; Side 2: XEX 422-1N.
The album comes from a smoke and pet free home.
