Description: Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique LPs, this one from Blossom Dearie. According to the back cover, she is the daughter of Harry A. and Margreta Dearie, her father is of Scottish descent, her mother Norwegian. Some of the songs on this LP are sung in French.

One thing that makes this item unique is that the record retains the original shine with up to some very slight marks, grading by sight in normal room light. I'm sure if you took this and put it under a 1000 watt bulb, you'd probably find something that makes it less than mint. If you're that kind of collector, and after a recent unpleasant experience with a buyer from Malaysia, let me suggest this auction is not for you. I don't claim this record is mint. I did take the time to play this LP and found the tracks to average better than half way between VG+(excellent) and Near Mint. Most records do not play this well.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s).

Here is a summary of the record(s):

Artist: Blossom Dearie Title: Self-titled Record: Black vinyl with original shine and up to some slight marks, grading by sight in normal room light. Labels: Black with silver print. There appears to be some Japanese print under the title "Blossom Dearie", but this disc was manufactured by Polydor in Japan according to the fine print along the lower part of the label. No pen/pencil marks, no stickers, a few spindle marks; Trailing wax: Side 1: "MV-2639A A-1-". Side 2: "MV-2639B A-1-" Inner sleeve: A clear, plastic sleeve rounded on one edge. Cover: Very slight general/ring wear front/back. Very slight wear to corners. No seam splits, no stickers, no pen/pencil marks. Rate the cover VG+(excellent). Comments: . I found the fourteen tracks to audibly average better than 1/2 of the way between VG+(excellent) and Near Mint. An excellent addition to your female jazz collection. Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:

• NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
• 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
• 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
• VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
• VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
• G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I normally ship Lp's in 14"x14"x6" boxes padded in styrofoam. Weight with box is about 1 pound 9 oz. Shipping is: $2.77 Media Rate (1-2 pounds) + $2.00 box/tape/packing + $.80 delivery confirmation = $5.57.

Buyer pays shipping/handling. Standard method within U.S. is Media Rate, $4.00. This includes delivery confirmation which enables you to track shipping of your package online. Outside U.S., e-mail location to determine S/H costs prior to auction end. Insurance / other methods of shipping cost extra. Payment received within ten days of auction ending.
