Some say it may be the finest performance ever.
Whatever your view, it is hard to imagine improving on Solti's form, the Vienna's fire, or the supporting cast, which includes Flagstad, London, Madeira, Svanholm, Kreppel, Neidlinger…I mean, it is as formidable as it gets.
And that says nothing of the engineering crew at London, who got this daunting recording "right." Certainly deserves a curtain call and its rightful place on the TAS list.
Box of this set is fine indeed, handsome, with all corners intact. Inside, the FFSS booklet is without fault, and all three UK pressings should play near mint.
A prize in opera, and of the recording arts.
