RARE Bakersfield c&w rockabilly lp ROSE LEE & JOE MAPHIS Stringin Along SIGNED Shipping Info Description SCARCE vintage autographed lp: JOE MAPHIS WITH ROSE LEE - STRINGIN' ALONG - signed by Rose Lee on the front cover; Mosrite Records (Bakersfield, CA), MA 401, mono, 12 tracks, released in the 1960's (I think 1968). This is a very uncommon record - it was also released on Dominion Records, and that is the only one that comes up in online searches - I can't find any other copies of this version on Mosrite. Joe Maphis was known as The King Of Strings and was amongst the flashiest country guitarists one of the 1950's and 1960's. The liner notes mention that Maphis started out as a session musician who played on Ricky Nelson's first record, Stuart Hamblin, Tex Ritter, and others (he also has some rare singles that feature Eddie Cochran), and he also created the soundtracks for the films "The FBI Story" and "Thunder Road". He and Rose Lee were regulars on the Los Angeles TV program "Town Hall Party Show" for 11 years. Tracks include: Country Girl Courtship, I Guess You're Finally Satisfied, Ole Jobro, Down By The Railroad Tracks, I'm Willing To Try, Second Fiddle To A Guitar, Maple On The Hill, Spanish Dobro, Dim Lights Thick Smoke (And Loud Loud Music), One More Time Around, There Goes My Everything, Preview.
Also of interest - This short-lived label was a big part of the 1950's-1960's Bakersfield, California country and rockabilly scene that included Joe Maphis, Gene Moles, Buck Owens, Bill Woods, and others. It was operated by SEMIE and ANDY MOSELEY who created the famous MOSRITE GUITARS, including Joe Maphis models; the Moseleys also produced this record.
Condition: EX/EX (vinyl is glossy with some very minor scuffing; labels are clean; jacket has minor corner rubbing, moderate rubbing to top-left corner, minor cover rubbing, small water spot to back cover).
(Country, Western, Swing, Guitar, Vocals, Duo, Signed, Autographed, 1960's, Music, Entertainment Memorabilia, Collectibles, LPs, Albums, Vintage Vinyl).
