Where to start? I purchased this record in 1994 at a garage sale in Vancouver, Washington - it was at an estate sale of items belonging to an elderly couple. The couple's Grandson told me that his Grandparents were regulars at Harrah's Tahoe, and would always get promotional items in the mail and invitations to special events. This package was one of the items that they had received. This package and its contents were specifically produced and released to a limited number of Harrah's VIPs for a one night Beach Boys concert on December 31, 1982 (and subsequently 1/1/1983). A lot of trouble to go to for one concert!
Within the original mailing box (included), there is an invitation from Harrah's with original envelope, RSVP card and postage-paid envelope back to Harrah's. The record jacket is in good condition, with minor wear on the front where the edge of the records sit. This is wear simply from the record being in the box for 27 years. There is no barcode, price or release date anywhere on the jacket. Inside is a picture of the members of the Beach Boys at that time: Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and Al Jardine. According to several Beach Boys fan sites, Brian Wilson did not end up playing at this concert.
The Album included is Endless Summer, with both records still in their paper sleeves. These records have never been played and show only minor wear on the album sticker. I can send more pictures of the records themselves if requested, but chose to leave them in the sleeves unless removal was absolutely necessary.
I have searched high and low for someone to tell me what these are worth, but thought I'd leave it to the public auction spectrum to determine their real value. No one I called had ever heard of this special promotional release. I imagine it is quite rare since only Harrah's VIPSs received this package when it was originally mailed out.
There is no reserve on this auction since fair market value has been just about impossible to determine.
