Description

Up for auction is an uncommon 16 2/3 rpm 7-inch record of, I Can Hear It Now / Edward R. Murrow & Fred W. Friendly.  Highway Hi-Fi [MR-24]  Manufactured by the Chrysler Corporation by Columbia Records.  Narrated by Edward R. Murrow, this two-sided disc contains a roughly 13-year “audio scrapbook” of historical voices and events including Will Rogers, Huey Long, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Hindenburg disaster, Al Smith, Hugh Johnson, Wendell Wilkie, Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, D-Day, Harry S. Truman, Opening of United Nations, Nazi Surrender, bombing of Hiroshima, Japan Surrender, V. J. Celebrations, Nuremberg Trials, Babe Ruth, Howard Hughes, assassination of Gandhi, Berlin Airlift, Whitaker Chambers and Alger Hiss, 1948 Presidential Campaign plus much more.  White label record in original green label with subject listing for each side.  Record is in nice condition; sleeve has some edge curling and identification sticker on the front.  Overall, a nice and uncommon Murrow recording.
