RARE FUNK Unmask the Batman LACY GIBSON on TONY SMITH Chicago jazz-blues LP This LP, Tony Smith & Aristocrats – Live At Fred Allegretti’s 4 Horseman Lounge (Sanns Records FSR 004), lists the personnel as Smith, drums & vocal, Lynn Sherrill, guitar, William “Bill” Casimir, tenor, and Lacy Gibson, bass & vocals. Some tracks were recorded at the 4 Horsemen Lounge, but three of the Lacy Gibson tracks are from singles issued on the Repeto label, recorded in 1968 (including two with Buddy Guy on guitar, according to The Blues Discography 1943-1970). Gibson's low-fi funk classic I Am Gonna Unmask the Batman appears here as Unmask the Batmen, and I Want an Easy Woman is shortened to Easy Woman. Other tracks are: Drums of Four, Green Apples, In Like Lynn, Suburban Cha Cha, Walking With Mr. Bill, Hi Yo Silver, Mau Mau Are Coming, Nite Train, She’s My Baby, and Big Nellies.
